Blind spot camera system.

Econic drivers have four blind spots visible on a display.

Truck drivers should never lose sight of the safety of their workmates or other road users. But especially in busy traffic, that is a real challenge. The Econic blind spot camera system bundles all the views of the surroundings on a single display. This makes it easier for drivers to concentrate on the current traffic situation be that manoeuvring, turning off or pulling away.

Improved all-round visibility: direct and indirect.

The blind spot camera system reduces blind spots around the Econic to a minimum. The working area around the modern truck is therefore clearly more visible. And the already good visibility offered to the driver by the panoramic glazing is usefully supplemented. For this purpose, four cameras are installed around the vehicle and an automated display is integrated in the cockpit.

Four cameras make the otherwise invisible visible.

The front camera is located on the front of the Econic and replaces the front bumper view mirror a particular ergonomic advantage for the driver. Thanks to this image-based system, the sun blind, which otherwise restricts the view of the front bumper view mirror, can now be used to the full. In bright sunlight, the driver is no longer dazzled and can concentrate fully on the surroundings.

Two more cameras are located on the lower mirror arms, where they record the situation at the sides looking towards the rear of the vehicle. The fourth camera can be placed in a variable position on the rear of the body to monitor the area behind the Econic.

Intelligent display assists drivers.

All camera images are collated and displayed on a single monitor in the cab. When operational, the centrally-positioned 7-inch display always shows the area that is currently important. The monitor display automatically adapts to suit the current driving situation – without requiring the driver to intervene manually. Depending on the speed and the steering angle, the display shows the all-round view, the lateral view, the front or the rear view of the vehicle.

If the vehicle is stationary, for example, all camera perspectives are displayed. If the vehicle drives at a speed of up to 10 km/h, the view from the front camera is displayed. For turning manoeuvres, if the turn signals are switched on, the left or right side is displayed respectively. When reverse gear is engaged, the rear-view camera and the two side cameras are activated. If the driver wishes, when the vehicle is stationary and the brake applied or if the speed is below 10 km/h, all views can be displayed individually, either manually or automatically.

Especially practical: if, in a particular traffic situation, several camera views are relevant, the system switches to split-screen mode and the monitor is divided into several views.
