Driving tomorrow.

Mercedes-Benz presents pioneering vehicle solutions at the IAA Commercial Vehicles 2018.

"Driving tomorrow" was the task the IAA Commercial Vehicles had set itself in 2018. And in doing so had also challenged the exhibitors. The world's leading trade fair for mobility, transport and logistics from 20 to 27 September 2018 in Hanover demanded innovative solutions for the commercial vehicle industry of the future.

Mercedes-Benz with its broad product range was fully in line with this trend in Hanover. In addition to a host of vehicle exhibits from the Cars, Vans and Trucks divisions, two Unimogs and two Econic trucks demonstrated the reliability and versatility of the vehicles bearing the three-pointed star. The special focus was on the extensive range of assistance systems and vehicle features that provide added safety in commercial vehicle operations. And on the efficient powertrain variants that are easy on the budget and the environment at the same time.

Unimog U 530: implement carrier with EU tractor type approval.

The Mercedes-Benz trade fair stand presented special Unimog innovations for the rest of Europe in particular: The Unimog implement carrier has an EU type approval as an agricultural tractor and can be used accordingly outside Germany from now on. On display was a Unimog U 530, a model that sets a number of new standards in terms of efficiency.

In addition to its flexibility, the high-speed tractor alternative scores points with low fuel consumption and a high level of safety. The efficient year-round operations are deeply rooted in the vehicle DNA – for example, in the quick-swap option of mounted implements and bodies.

Unimog U 5023: off-road-capable specialist for fighting fires.

Trade fair visitors could check out the Unimog as a powerful fire-fighter at the IAA in front of the Mercedes-Benz Hall 14/15. Emergency responders keep a cool head in the presented Unimog U 5023, even when things get highly volatile. The 230-hp all-rounder reliably brings them to where they are needed, because it also climbs steep slopes while always staying agile.

Econic CNG 1830: supply chain pro with refrigerated box body.

The Mercedes-Benz Econic CNG 1830 with refrigerated box body got to the heart of the trade fair themes logistics and transport. Thanks to its clever equipment features, the Econic masters the two central challenges of food transport in big cities: maintaining the refrigeration chain and using the road safely. With its two refrigeration chambers, which are separated by a variable divider, the special-purpose truck ensures temperatures from -20 to up to +7°C. Practical safety assistance systems such as Sideguard Assist and sophisticated vehicle features such as the low-entry cab play a key role in accident avoidance.

Econic Freightliner SD 6x4: refuse disposal at a high level.

The second Econic exhibit at the IAA is aimed at the waste management industry. The Econic Freightliner SD 6x4 combines comfort and agility with an innovative disposal concept. Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner worked closely with leading providers of refuse collection systems in the development. This resulted in a versatile vehicle, which is available in two variants – with front-mounted loader or rear- and side-mounted loader.

IAA: Driving tomorrow.

As the world's leading trade fair for mobility, transport and logistics, the IAA Commercial Vehicles attracts many visitors to Hanover each time.
